We all want to live in a pinterest perfect home! But, for those of us with normal people budgets, scrolling through influencers' instagram-worthy homes can feel overwhelming. Here are some simple ways you can make your home look like a million bucks, even if you have a DIY budget!
Declutter. I have written posts about decluttering in the past, and it continues to be so important! For me, decluttering my own home is a big part of my own mental health. But, aside from keeping you sane, getting rid of things can also make your home look much more stylish! Hardly any photos in Architectural Digest show a dining room table with six Amazon boxes and your kids' backpacks on them. And, while of course Architectural Digest isn't real life, why not treat yourself to a more peaceful, organized home?
See the Light. Lighting plays a huge role in the look and feel of your home. Upgrading your lighting fixtures gives your home a more updated look right off the bat! In addition to your fixtures, having the right type and amount of lighting is key! Cool lighting is better for kitchens and areas with a lot of use, while warm lighting may work better in living rooms and dens, with a cozier atmosphere. Consider adding dimmer switches in certain areas to set the tone!
Express Yourself With Art. Art is not only a great investment, it can brighten your mood and pull your room together as well! Going big with art can create a luxury atmosphere and set your style apart. Whether you find single large painting or photo, or you have a large gallery wall, make sure you choose a frame that looks great with your room and with the colors of the artwork. Plus, it's a great conversation piece!
Upgrade Your Bedding. A fluffy, layered bed with white linens is always a luxurious look. Purchasing poufy, down pillows and comforters can give you a better sleep and a better bed! Add a cozy blanket and some throw pillows and you're all set!
It's All in the Details. Don't forget the little things! Nice hand soaps in the bathrooms can make guests feel like they're at a hotel! Beautiful scents throughout your home can also give the feeling of being somewhere luxurious. If you're into hosting, having cute dinnerware, serve ware, glassware, etc. can also be a way to set you apart.
I have had the opportunity to be in many homes during my years in real estate! I have seen absolutely gorgeous homes that look professionally put together in all budgets! It's all about being yourself and taking care of the things in your home! Above all, your home should be a place where YOU feel great!
