There's Always a Pool Day in February

When I first began my journey to becoming a Tucsonan, I noticed something that became a pattern every year. At least one day in February was a pool day. No matter what the weather the rest of the winter (and guys, it gets COLD here!!!) there was at least a day or two of nice weather that allowed me to sneak off to the campus rec pool and load up on vitamin D!

For out of towners, yes, it does get frigidly cold here in the winter! You hear about the dry heat, but we don't like to talk about the dry cold. Imagine 17 degree weather with cold dry wind and you didn't realize you needed to own a parka? That's what I'm talking about.

However, you don't have to suffer for long, because even though February can be cold and rainy, you have something to look forward to. You can pretty reliably experience hints of the springtime on the horizon. It's great for those who suffer from wintertime blues! This past week my kids were out of school for rodeo break (another uniquely Tucsonan tradition!). We were able to enjoy lots of great outdoor activities like a trip to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, ice fights, and, yes, a trip to the pool! Make sure you try to find someone who has a heated pool, because although you really don't need a pool heater May-September, you sure do need one in February!

Pool days in February are just one of the many great things about living here in Tucson! What's your favorite thing about living here?
